Frontenac Outfitters offers kayak excursions and Leisure trips of the Rideau Canal System, 1000 Islands National Park, And new for 2010 Paddling Big Gull Lake. Our Tours provide an exceptional opportunity for kayakers of all levels to build confidence and refine their skills with our certified instructors, while paddling some of Ontario's most scenic and historic waterways.

A complete Paddlesports Centre, our service doesn't cease after a boat purchase as our clientele is offered a wide array of after sales services such as Kayak Skills Courses, Clinics and Tours.


NOTE**All Course Participants must be able to swim 50 m with a PFD**

Big Gull lake is over 24 kms long and is one of the largest lakes in the Land O'lake regions. With 102 km's of shoreline to experience, and over 2 km's wide you could paddle for acouple days and not see the same spot twice.

2010 Rideau Canal - Discover Day Tour

The Rideau Canal is a 126-mile / 202-km waterway connecting Lake Ontario's Kingston to Ottawa, our Nation's Capital. The waterway route was the creation of Britain's Lieutenant Colonel John By in the wake of the U.S. / Canada War of 1812 as a wartime supply route alternative to the international boundary of the St. Lawrence River. It's 47 locks; blockhouses and dams are considered one of the greatest engineering feats of the 19th century. UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) declared the Rideau Canal System a "World Heritage Site" in 2007. 

Our Rideau Canal kayak tour concentrates on the routes most scenic 12-km stretch from historic Jones Falls to beautiful Chaffey's Locks!

Your adventure begins at the historic 60' high dam at Jones Falls, but not before first exploring this beautiful locations 4- lockstations, steeped in history. Along the way we will
describe the workers sacrifices and the difficulties engineer's experienced, while building this spectacular waterway. As we pass our way through several small lakes you will have a chance to watch the excitement of pleasure boaters passing through the old historic locks. Our leisurely paddle generally keeps us far away from the mainstream boat traffic as we remain in protected waters. The quaint and picturesque Davis Lock is the ideal place to stop to have lunch and use their facilities. After a relaxing lunch and brief portage we continue kayaking across Opinicon Lake to our destination at Chaffey's Locks. As we load up boats & gear for the return shuttle to Jone's Falls, Your welcome to explore the charming and historic Chaffey's Locks to see the sights.

2010 Women's Only Kayaking Social Tour

    Enjoy our WOMEN'S ONLY Kayak Social!

A relaxing day of kayaking, swimming, socializing with other women and Oh yes... best of all Ice cream! After meeting at Frontenac Outfitters we travel the short distance to Desert Lake where we launch from the beach. Paddling north we wind down scenic Mitchell Creek into spring fed Birch Lake, which borders the north side of Frontenac Provincial Park.

The Frontenac Park region abounds with all kinds of birds and wildlife and was recently recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site; one of only 4 in Ontario.

 If we're lucky we just might catch a glimpse of otters sliding into the lake, hear the haunting call of a loon or see deer standing in silence along the edge of a lake. Our trip includes a leisurely lunch (you bring) and a refreshing swim before we make our way back. I almost forgot... ice cream greets us at trips end... you earned it!

2010 Discover The 1000 Islands: 1-Day Excursion

Our "Kayak Excursion Tour" concentrates on the 'heart of the 1000 islands', a beautiful and rugged 20-mile (30-km) stretch. Our adventure begins west of Gananoque at our family waterfront beach property in the Bateau Channel. Traveling eastwardly we traverse through the islands before ending our day long trip just past the Canadian Span of the 1000 Islands Bridge near the Village of Ivy Lee, Ontario.

Blessed with incredible beauty and rich in history the native people called the 1000 Islands the 'Garden of the Great Spirit'. Today the 1000 Islands region is recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve (1 of only 12 celebrated sites in Canada). The emerald waters, innumerable channels and 1865 islands are part of St. Lawrence Islands National Park, (Canada's fifth oldest and smallest National Park).
