About Frontenac Outfitters Courses & Instructors

We believe that educated paddlers are safer more confident paddlers! Frontenac Outfitters has been successfully introducing people to kayaking for over 30- Years. We offer a wide range of Paddle Canada certified & non-certified Kayak Courses, Clinics & Paddle Days to satisfy paddlers of all ages and experience levels. Our courses are designed to develop the connection between the paddler & kayak to best enable you to get more enjoyment & performance from your kayak. The sheltered, warm waters of our own beautiful Pearkes Lake provide the perfect on-site location to refine your techniques.

Zack Fiddis (owner) is a Paddle Canada certified instructor, and teach all Frontenac Outfitters Courses. With an emphasis on safety he shares his experiences, knowledge, and love for kayaking in a relaxed, enjoyable environment.Kayaking Courses

Our lifelong passion for paddling has led us around the globe from the rugged Coast of B.C.’s Vancouver Island, to Florida’s everglades and the sparkling waters of the Florida Keys. We’ve experienced the splendor of Australia’s Sydney Harbor, the magnificent waterfalls of New Zealand’s Fjord Land, beyond to Central America’s Belize and both the U.S. & British Virgin Islands.

Sea Kayaking Easy Rolling Basics: Private Lesson

Kayak Rolling Course

The ultimate self-rescue technique, a Bomb Proof Roll is the Holy Grail of kayak skills to be learned. Our Kayak Rolling Course takes a step-by-step teaching approach has helped many paddlers achieve their goal to roll a Sea Kayak. Together we will explore and discover the progressions that will work best for your individual needs. So if you like the idea of purposely tipping over to see if you can come back up, don’t mind getting wet and like the idea of hanging out up upside down have we got an experience for you!

Note: Best results our Kayak Rolling Course is taught as a private course with 2- students per session in two to three sessions.

Kayak Rolling Course


Prerequisites: Recommended completion of our Intro. to Sea Kayaking is or equivalent experience

Length: Determined by participant: 1-2 hour session is recommended

Location: Frontenac Outfitters Canoe & Kayak Centre

Cost: $75.00 (per hour) + 13% HST

Note: For group sessions, a charge of $35.00 an hour is applicable per additional student.

  • Wet-exit (lets see how long you can hold your breath)

  • Finish position
  • Tricks to catch errors, correct & refine your roll yourself

Note: we normally teach a Gentle Sweep Roll but you can also learn C-to-C and Pawlata Rolls.

  • Water bottle & snacks
  • A Positive Attitude


  • We sell nose plugs & eye glasses holders, and a mask can be provided

  7. Are they renting or bringing their own kayaks? if Yes, what make and model?
  8. List any health or medical condition they have that we need to know about.
