Zegul Greenland Kayak 17/7 Review
Don’t miss this rare opportunity to grab one of these exquisitely designed European Craft from Canada’s Tahe & Zegul Kayaks Experts!
Breathtakingly beautiful, the Zegul Greenland Kayak is one of the most well recognized kayaks on the planet! Johan Wirsen, one of Europe's most prolific designers, thoroughly crafted Zegul's Greenland series to be true to heritage with classic lines closely replicating Inuit / Aleut peoples’ original ‘Skin-on-frame’ designs.
The Greenland 17/7 is the smallest, narrowest kayak in Zegul's Greenland Kayak Series that also includes the middle sized Greenland T 17/8.5 and much larger Greenland GT 17/10. The original Zegul Greenland 'OC' (Ocean Cockpit) received a major redesign for 2014. Zegul Kayaks added a bit of width, shortened its length by 3 inches, enlarged the cockpit's length, and heightened its foredeck. These changes translate into a more stable kayak that now satisfies a dramatically larger paddler weight range from 120 to 180 lbs. The craft's new 'OC' still provides the snug 'one with boat fit' sought by skilled performance oriented paddlers, while now enabling easier entry and exit for those who are challenged by the tight fit of a traditional ocean cockpit.
The Zegul Greenland has been upgraded with a multi-adjustable back rest to further improve the paddler's fit. The back rest is manually adjusted using a nut & bolt system that offers virtually unlimited customization. It takes some time to hone in your perfect fit and the back rest cannot be adjusted on the water. However, once you've got it placed exactly where it's needed, you'll appreciate the comfort that's provided!
Quiet, unobtrusive, efficient and incredibly agile, the Greenland kayak's ultra-low sheer line are also virtually unaffected by adverse weather conditions, and the feeling of being so close to the water is simply inspiring. The craft's long, narrow, sleek form effectively slices through the water and combines hard-chined sides with a Moderate Vee hull for razor sharp tracking. The extremely low deck height both forward and aft enable effortless layback & forward rolls and provides closer than normal encounters with nature.
Originally created by the Inuit for hunting and stealth, skilled paddlers have long since embraced Greenland Kayaks as play boats and rolling machines. More recently however, Greenland Kayaks are increasingly entering the main stream kayak marketplace due to their combination of incredible efficiency and stunning beauty. Strikingly beautiful, Zegul Marine’s Greenland Kayak Series build quality is the kayak industries best by a long shot.
One glance at their 3D C-Core’s glittering ‘gold / silver’ stainless steel weave through its Carbon/ Kevlar hull combine with its Kevlar seam and alligator skin pattern to instantly separate them from all would-be competitors, while garnering shouts of glee from everyone who sees them!
"Ideally suited for small & medium sized kayak enthusiasts who love a lightening fast, purist's Greenland-style kayak. Zegul Kayaks Greenland perfectly combines traditional design with the industries most innovative lightweight composite materials & manufacturing processes."
